Study Communications in the Mediterranean on Aphrodite's Island, Cyprus!
Cyprus is an island country about the size of Connecticut located in the northeastern corner of the Mediterranean Sea. Cyprus recently joined the European Union in 2004 and is well-known for its ancient history and its golden beaches and its over 300 days of sun annually. The program will be based in Nicosia, the capital city of Cyprus, which is centrally located on the island allowing for easy access to coastal and mountainous regions. Nicosia is a city that combines modern development with a historic and medieval walled city center.
Classes will take place at the University of Nicosia, the island's largest university. Students will be accompanied by University of Tennessee faculty who will teach their courses on the University of Nicosia campus. Possible weekend excursions could include Limassol, the second-largest city in Cyprus and its coastal industry center, Troodos, the highest elevation of the island, Ayia Napa, a beautiful resort town, and Paphos, a UNESCO world heritage site.
Students will be housed in apartments in residential areas near the University of Nicosia campus. Apartments will typically be two-bedroom with two students to a bedroom and four students sharing the apartment space. Apartments include kitchens and lounges.
