Please Note: It is important to apply for financial aid early. A late application for FAFSA will jeopardize ability to secure financial aid. If you have questions about applying for federal or state financial aid, please visit UT One Stop Express Student Services.
If you have already completed your FAFSA for the current academic year, and receive federal and/or state financial aid (including the HOPE Scholarship), you may apply it to all UT approved study abroad programs. The most important document that enables you to apply your existing financial aid to your study abroad program, the Financial Aid List, will be made available to you on your application homepage once you are accepted to your study abroad program.
Students with tuition discounts should know that they only apply to exchange and UT faculty-directed programs and may only be applied towards tuition. There is no discount for other charges such as room, board, deposits, or program fees.
Note for UT faculty-directed program students: Tuition will be billed through MyUTK, and tuition discounts will apply. Students participating on these programs may not use tuition discounts for the Program Fee, which is paid to the Programs Abroad Office and does not include tuition. Please see your program budget sheet for the breakdown of costs.
Financial Aid Disbursement
You will receive your financial aid disbursement from UT at the same time you would normally receive your aid if you were on campus.
