How to Apply

Please follow the instructions below to apply for a study abroad program.  If you have any questions during the process, please contact the relevant staff member.

1. Find your Study Abroad Program Page

Once on your chosen study abroad program page, click on the "Apply Now" link found at the top of the webpage. Follow the instructions to create your own personal application homepage by logging in with your UT Knoxville NetID and password.

2. Begin the Application

On your application homepage, you will see a checklist of everything you need to do. There are three types of documents: material submissions, signature documents, and questionnaires. Please click on each document for instructions.  You must read and follow all instructions carefully and in a timley manner.  Most of the application process can be done online at your convenience, but hard copies of some materials must be submitted to the Programs Abroad Office.  If we are missing any parts of your application, you will receive regular e-mail reminders starting a few weeks before the application deadlines. Watch for these reminders that will come from studyabroad@utk.eduNOTE: Application deadlines are firm and you must submit all application pieces in order for your application to be reviewed. To see if you have submitted all necessary documents, review the checklist on your homepage.  You can only apply to two programs per term.

3. Login and Check for Updates

After you have begun the application, you can check your application homepage at anytime.  Remember to check your UT Knoxville e-mail on a regular basis for reminders of items that you have not yet submitted. You will receive your decision notification through e-mail on the decision date listed on your study abroad program page.

4. Commit to Your Program

After you have been accepted, you will have to commit to your program.  You will be notified in your acceptance letter of the commitment deadline.  Failure to commit by the deadline indicated in your acceptance letter will jeopardize your participation. After committing, you will be required to submit additional post-acceptance materials. Only after you have submitted these materials will you be eligible to study abroad on your chosen program.  If you applied and were accepted to more than one program, you will only be allowed to commit to one of them.
